Officers from the Windsor Police Department were called to the Siam Corner Thai Kitchen & Pho restaurant on May 29, where there was a report of a foul odor and dark-colored liquid dripping from the restaurant near the front counter.
According to police, investigators were contacted by a concerned neighbor who hadn’t seen the Broad Street tenant in several days, and when they entered the upstairs apartment through an unlocked window, they found the body of the tenant, which had been dead for several days.
“It appeared that the dripping substance was possibly blood,” police noted in their report. “I then went upstairs to the apartment located directly above the restaurant and banged on the door several times, but received no answer or response. I then went to the rear door and again banged on the door and received no response.”
A biohazard team was called to the scene and the restaurant - which is being renovated - remains closed, according to the Health Department.
The man’s identity has not been released, and the cause of death is believed to be natural causes. No foul play is suspected, police noted. According to WFSB, medications for heart failure and high blood pressure were found in the man’s apartment.
